These naturally iridescent mother-of-pearl studs reinterpret a lustrous Indian powder flask in The Met collection. Crafted in Gujarat for the export market, this artful 18th–19th-century vessel of shimmering green turban shell was created to contain gunpowder. The Museum is home to a vast collection of diversely decorated powder flasks from around the world.
